湖北长江出版传媒集团组建于2004年，2007年10月正式成立湖北长江出版传媒集团有限公司，现拥有成员单位27家，其中全资成员单位（子公司）18家，控股公司6家，参股公司3家，年销售达37亿元，总资产过50亿元。集团年出版图书和电子音像制品3000余种，初步形成以图书、报刊、音像、电子出版物编辑出版、印制、发行及相关物资供应为主，出版对外贸易、科研、教育培训等各环节相配套，并以向影视、网络等媒体及其他文化服务、地产物业等领域拓展的产业发展态势，形成较为完备的产业体系，是湖北省大型出版文化产业集团，成为湖北省国民经济重要组成部分和湖北省文化产业的龙头企业之一。
