Purpose / Role:
To control, direct and monitor the application of Safety measures to Company activities in accordance with Company policy and objectives and to oversee the effective application of these requirements to individual projects.
Prime responsibilities and duties
·Control and organization of the Safety Department.
·Maintaining and enhancing where necessary, the Company Safety Management Systems to ensure that they continually meet with the relevant requirements.
·Establish Company Procedures and Standards in conjunction with applicable departments, making recommendations where necessary to ensure that current Company working practices and latest industry requirements are met.
·Coordination of input to periodic Management Reviews of the Safety Management Systems in accordance with related procedures.
·Provision of Safety input to new proposals and participating in formal presentations to potential clients.
·Proposing key Safety personnel for projects.
·Ensuring by review and audit that Safety activities being applied to Projects are undertaken in accordance with applicable Company Procedures and Standards
·Participate in monthly meetings
·Participate in Global Functionial SHE management Meetings
·To develop and manage SHE annual budget
·Co-ordinate Company internal auditing activities and monitoring audits undertaken on projects.
·To report promptly to the Regional Director any Safety related problems which cannot be resolved by line Management.
·Input to induction/ training sessions as necessary to familiarize Company personnel with Company technics and procedures.
·Appraising performance of subordinates and identifying and implementing training needs as necessary.
Allied occasional duties
·Liaison with existing and potential clients to ensure that common understanding exists with regards to interpretation and application of Safety management principles to project situations.
·Identifying and implementing improvements to the Company Management Systems.
·To read, understand and implement the Company Safety Policy and the arrangements described in the Company and area Safety Management System documents.
·Maintenance of the safety records for China operations.
·To receive and disseminate information about SHE issues across China operations
·To draft and review SHE strategy, objectives and targets for approval by regional director
·To provide leadership on SHE matters
·To develop proposals for SHE with China
·To share learning and information on best practice in SHE
·To develop process and identify opportunities for staff development
