北京时间9月17日晚间消息，欧洲最大软件公司SAP周四发布声明称，公司CEO比尔·迈克德莫特(Bill McDermott)因从楼梯上跌落导致一只眼睛失明。
SAP称，迈克德莫特今年7月4日去美国探亲。一天晚上，54岁的迈克德莫特下楼梯时不慎跌倒，手中的水杯摔碎，眼睛碰到了玻璃碎片。
据SAP发言人称，迈克德莫特险些因流血过多而死亡。经过长时间的抢救，迈克德莫特渡过危险期。但由于一只眼睛感染，最终不得不摘除。
迈克德莫特本人向德国媒体表示：“经历这次严重的意外事件，我还活着。”迈克德莫特还补充道，这不会影响他的工作。他说：“跌倒后，重要的是要站起来。”
