12 June 2024- The Pennsylvania State Police have issued a preliminary report on the explosion at the Johnson Controls facility in Waynesboro on Tuesday morning.
Troopers say that just after 7:20am on June 11th, a small explosion occurred at the business. The explosion, PSP Fire Marshals say, was believed to be accidental in nature but is still under active investigation.
The machine/equipment where the explosion was/were damaged, but the rest of the structure remained unharmed.
In total, Troopers say three employees were injured. One had minor injuries, one with moderate injuries, and one with serious injuries. All three, however, were described as non-life threatening injuries.
Three people were injured Tuesday morning in an explosion at Johnson Controls in Waynesboro, according to an official with the Franklin County Department of Emergency Services.
It happened at about 7:30 a.m. at the industrial refrigeration manufacturing plant at 100 Cumberland Valley Ave.
Two of the injured persons were flown from the scene, one to WellSpan York Hospital and the other to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, said Mary Kay Seville, assistant director of the emergency services department.

The other was taken by ambulance to Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, Md.
Thirteen agencies responded to the scene, including fire and EMS departments and the two medical helicopters, Seville said.Information was limited as of 12:30 p.m."It's still early," Seville said.No one answered the phone at Johnson Controls, Waynesboro Fire Department or the Waynesboro Volunteer Fire Department.来源:Amber South
